Welcome to the home page for the North Canton Middle School Library!
My name is Miss Burley, and I am the Head Librarian here at NCMS.
Students have multiple opportunities to visit the library to check out books and/or research for class. In addition to possible library visits with a class, the library is open to students before school at 7:15. We will stay open after school until 2:50. Students can also visit the library with a pass during their Academic Assist periods.
The Links Page above contains links to other web sites related to books, authors, researching, and reading. I hope to grow this collection throughout the year. Hopefully you find these sites to be beneficial!
This is my first year working as a librarian at North Canton Middle School, however, it's not my first year here. I was at NCMS 10 years ago as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher. In the in-between times, I was the librarian at Greentown Elementary and taught 4th grade at Greentown. I have also taught 1st and 2nd grade reading and substituted in grades PreK through 8. All together, this is my thirteenth year working in education!
In June 2006 I graduated from Ashland University with a Masters Degree in Literacy. I completed my undergraduate studies at Malone College and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. (Yes, it is now Malone University, but it will always be Malone College in my mind!)
I live in North Canton and am a member of The Chapel in North Canton where I am the wedding coordinator and play clarinet in our Orchestra. I also spend time tutoring and dog-sitting when I am not at school. In my spare time, I like to hang out with my family and friends. I also enjoy cross-stitching and reading. My favorite authors are Janette Oke and Beverly Lewis. While I have many, two of my favorite middle-grade authors are Gordon Korman and Andrew Clements.
I am looking forward to a great year here at NCMS! I hope that if you have any questions or concerns you will call me at school, or e-mail me. Have a great school year!
