THE HOME STRETCH Hoover High School sophomore Jackie Nicodemo (5) will try to help the Vikings win the Federal League tournament and overall title tonight against McKinley.

Whatís at stake? The Federal League girls basketball title comes down to this game. Hoover was the regular season champion at 7-0. McKinley finished second at 6-1. But under new league rules, regular-season points are awarded based on the entire 10-game schedule, including the tournament. That means if McKinley wins, both teams finish 9-1. Additional points are given based on where teams finish in the tournament. The Vikings can wrap everything up with a victory, while the Bulldogs can leapfrog to a title by upsetting fifth-ranked Hoover.

Opening acts Perry and Boardman play at 6 p.m. in the tournamentís third-place game. GlenOak, Lake, Jackson and Fitch played Wednesday. See todayís sports section for those results.
